LITERARY PROBLEM.

CANCELLATION OF FOOLISH ORDER. BY CABLE—PEESS ASSOCIATION—COPYEIGHT. PARIS, Feb. 24. The Minister for Justice is facing a curious literary problem. Bardelaire, the poet, in 1857 was fined three hundred francs and forced to suppress six poems in the first edition of Fleursdumal. The Minister for Justice today received a deputation from the Bardelaire Society demanding the revocation of the judgment. Since 1857 the authorities have been prosecuting booksellers for advertising copies with the six poems, though publishers were at full liberty to print the poems without calling attention to them. The Bardelaire Society says this procedure is folly, and it also asks that the poet’s reputation be freed from stigma.
