MOTOR REGISTRATION.
STILL GOING AHEAD. The postmaster reports that many owners who failed to register before February 1 arb coming in. Begistration is still proceeding, and seventeen were registered for the week to February '2'i. There must still be many more to come. The new motor-car number plates required under the Motor Vehicles Act arrived in Wellington by the Matingamii from San Francisco last week. They are not ready for distribution at present, as the work of compiling the certificates of license and registration is not completed. The plates are of the same design as those used in California, and will Ik? sold for a shilling each. They are lettered in white on a background of green, the letters and figures being embossed.' One reason for this type is so that they cannot bo imitated by owners. At present- some are using plates painted bv themselvfis.
The certificates of registration and the licenses will be issued to vehicle owners with the registration plates. Temporary plates have up to the present been issued for any new cars registered.
