The visit of the All Blacks to the Old Land bad proved that. Some day—who knew? —we might even have an Australian cricket XL over here. But meanwhile we bad an Australian athletic team, and Hawera was glad to welcome its members. Mr. A. Grant, president of the Hawera. A. A. Club, extended a welcome from the district- athletes, and, on his call, three hearty cheers were given for the visitors.

Mr. AA'hyte replied for the Australians. They had had similar receptions all the way, he said, and it was hard to express the gratitude they felt. All he could say was that they were here to do their best, and they were always ready to shake hands with the bo vs who beat them
