The not-ou-t men, Worker 25 and Shepherd 35. faced the bowling of Millar and Wallace. Both batsmen hit Millar for three apiece and Shepherd snicked a no-ball from Wallace to the fence, the next going for three. Worker brought 90 up with another three off Millar, and Shepherd, who showed a return to best-form, hooked the samp howler to the pickets, which increased his tally to half a century, compiled in 77 minutes. Hartkopf replaced Millar -at 90. Five singles were hit off the over, and flip century was hoisted after SI minutes. Fueling, the eighth howler tried, came on in place of Wallace, Worker wiping off Otago’s first innings deficit bv a dir. through the slips few-a- quartette. Shepherd drove Hartkopf to on for a like amount. Willis substituted for Eliding, who only sent down one over. Worker pulling him for a brace. The partnership was dissolved at 117. when Shephprd hit Hartkopf on a full right into Mnyne’s hands at square-leg. Shepherd was at the wickets for 104 minutes. Blamires was the newcomer, and Worker reached the half-fentury with a shot to leg for four.
