BACHELOR OF MEDICAL SCIENCE

PROPOSED FOR NEW ZEALAND

Dr W. P. Garland attended a meeting of the New Zealand University Senate to-day, and urged the establishment of a new degree, Bachelor of Medical Science. He said that a diploma had been suggested, but those specially concerned held the opinion that a diploma would be of no value whatever. There was a degree of Bachelor of Science in Canada. The aim of those interested in creating the new degree was to give selected or qualified students special training in medical research work. The object, brief!v\ was to '’stimulate research, and thus possibly lead to discoveries of value "in medial science. Mr Garland was thanked by the Senate for his address, and it was agreed that the address he printed and circulated amongst members.
