MRS JOHN FINLAY
The pioneers and early settlers are a fast-diminishing band, and on Thursday evening their .ranks suffered a further loss in the death of. Emma Finlay, ivife of Mr Joan Finlay, Tokaora. Deceased underwent . a serious operation a fortnight: ago, and although she rallied and was cheerful and- optimistic to the last, she was; very weak, and finally passed peacefully away. Aft her married life of forty years she spent in Hawer-a - and district, her home having been at Tokaora during the past 23 years. , c . » . The late Mrs Finlay was ojf a kindly and sympathetic nature, ever ready to give assistance to a neighbour or anyone in distress.. She Was born in lit ading,' Berkshire England, 69 years ago on ;January -8, and she leaves to mourn their Joss her husband, one son. Harold J. Finlay,. Tokaora, Miss Edith Finlay, Tokaora, Mrs Luxton, Waitoa, Thames Valley; daughters, also Mr Thos. Swadling Reading, England. Mr Fred Swadling, Kaponga, Mrs J. H. Bentley Kaponga, and Miss 1 E. Swadling, Hawero. . She- also leaves seven granddaughters, and ona grandson. The late Mr \Ym, Swadling, first chairman of the Kaponga Town Board, was a brother of deceased-. .-
