TO THE DEBUTANTES, 1925. - I. I’ve heard it said that Evelyn, Too young to see the devil in Man’s eye, this year will revel in Gay pleasures new. A flapper’s vestments she will don — Admiring eyes to gaze upon. What more attractive debutant Could make debut ? What life ahead for Evelyn, Who's never yet seen evil in Alan’s glance,* nor felt primeval instincts thrill her through! 11. Also her boon companion Joyce Will try the music of her voice On manly ears —not mine for choice; To* sleep I’d go. Amid the social world she’ll mingle, Her hair a most becoming shingle, Setting youthful blood a tingle And hearts aglow. What thrills in store for Joyce so
dashin’,Attired in frocks ©f latest fashion? Who will arouse her girlish passion? Not I, I know! in. This coming season will Kathleen, AVhose years are but a hare nineteen, In gay society be seen ‘To cast her spell— A fragile bud not yet caressed By any zephyr —in whose breast Still yearning strange and unexpressed. Time can hut tell What pleasant fruits the gods may hold For fair Kathleen, with heart yet cold. Who, when I kissed her, never “told”— Afv silent “belle”! —A. Knut. Hawera.
