NEW ZEALAND EGGS.
GREAT DEMAND ON HOME MARKET. It is gratifying to learn that the egg industry, the Cinderella of New Zealand’s exports, is steadily progressing, and that the demand oil tile London market is in excess- of that lor even the English product. At a meeting of the executive association in connection with the forthcoming New Zealand Poultry Conference at Wellington, a letter was read from .Messrs. A. J. Mills, and Co., Ltd., of London, giving a report of the English egg market, in which it was stated that the prices realised for eggs from the Dominion were in excess of those obtained for the eggs of any other country, including England, Ireland. Denmark and Australia. At the time when the letter was written local eggs were realising 26/ per long hundred, while those from New Zealand sold at 27/. During the same period, the Australian product only brought 22/8. and Danish 25/. A trial shipment of duck eggs was made last season, and reports recently received from England indicate that they turned out very satisfactorily. London buyers were well satisfied with the quality and selection submitted, 'which enabled them to be speedily disposed of. Further shipments have been requested.
