The following further notifications of cases of infantile paralysis were received by the Health Department for the 24 hours ending 9 a.m. to-dav: Wellington City none, Taihape one. Waimarino one, Ivaponga one, Hawera one, Palmerston North one. Levin two, Otaki one, Plimmerton one, Mauriceville West one, Nelson one. Mount Albert two, Grey Lynn one, Matiere one, Taumarunui one, Whangarei one, Hobson County one, Halswell one, Lnunstop one, Ashburton one, Timaru one, Ornri one, St. Kilda (Otago) one.

WORK IN THE CITIES. At this time of epidemic a great responsibility is imposed on the Department of Health, and the officers controlling the work and carrying out the administrative and precautionary part of the policy have a difficult task, exposed as they are to criticism from all quarters. While on leave during the last week or two, Mr F. G. Coleman, district officer, saw something of the work at the head office in Wellington. He savs tliev have a fairly large staff, with 'three medical officers of health, several inspectors, and some other officials. One of the doctors told him he considered that in the capital eitv the epidemic had probably passed its' peak of virulence- The inspectors have a very busy time, and amongst their duties is that of keeping an eye on places where people are wont to congregate, to see that as far as may be children are not allowed to he there.
