At the Supreme Court the following prisoners were sentenced William Ren t worth Chan, a young Chinaman with a long criminal, record, on three charges of theft, three years imprisonment. The judge said that the accused was a criminal of the worst type. He had been at the University and had mtriculated, but had led a life of crime. He had not taken advantage of past leniency. James Kifight, for indecent- assault on a young female, was sentenced to six months’ hard labour, to- be followed by two years’ reformative treatment. NEW PLYMOUTH SESSION. NEW PLYMOUTH. Feb. 17. The Supreme Court opened this morning, .Justice Ostler presiding. Gordon Herbert Martin, who pleaded guilty in the lower court to thirteen charges of theft from the Bank of New South Wales, involving -over £I7OO, was admitted to probation for three years, and ordered to pay the costs of prosecution and abstain from betting and gambling.

Colin Mouatt Evans pleaded guiltv to eight charges of opening and theft from postal packages, and theft of £.6 from a fellow-employee. He was sentenced to two years’ probation and or clered to nay costs and make restitution .
