WOOL FOR SALE

LIMITATION OF CATALOGUES

AN AUSTRALIAN PROPOSAL

IMPROVED PRICES HOPED FOR

BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. (Received Feb. 13, 10.15 a.m.) MELBOURNE, Feb. 13. A joint conference of the Australian Wool Growers’ Council and the National Council of Wool Selling Brokers of Australia resolved to curtail offerings to accord with the limited power of buyers now attending auctions in different centres. It was decided to curtail offerings for the future by 50 per cent, although the resulting prolongation of the sales may cause growers whose wool has uot yet been offered at auction some temporary inconvenience. It is generally felt that this will be outweighed by the compensation of a firmer market and greater stability in the matter of prices which it is hoped will result from the proposed curtailment.
