CORRUPT POLITICIANS.

BIG FRAUDS ALLEGED

BY CABLE-PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT

BERLIN, Feb. 12. The charges against Hoffle, formerly a member of the Marx Cabinet, include the acceptance of a bribe of 50,000 marks from deposits in Handels Bank in exchange for placing Reich funds in the bank, resulting in a loss to the Government of £500,000, and appointing the bank the Government’s agent for purchasing gold. He is also accused of giving the Centrist deputy (Herr Langehegernnmn) 2,000,000 gold marks, ostensibly for relief purposes in the occupied territory, of which sum Langehegerrnann devoted a large portion to his own use. A prosecution has been launched against several of the depositents’ directors, two of whom have fled abroad with Government funds. One has acquired Lettish and the other Dutch citizenship, making extradition almost impossible.
