ELTHAM.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) PLUNKET SOCIETY. At the monthly meeting of the Elthnm Plnnlcet Society there were present: Mesdames Hawken (chair); Ware, Wanklyn, Wood, Stewart. Barv. McDonald, Carson, Walsh, .Foord, ’ Campbell and Weir. The secretary' reported having received a letter from Stratford intimatng that Nurse Baker was leaving, and that they had written the central council for a new nurse. T was resolved that, the secretary should write Nurse Baker intimating the committee’s regret at losing her, and thanking her for all she had done to help the society. The secretary was instructed to write thanking Mrs Carlson for a donation. The president reported having closed the rooms in the meantime as a precaution against infantile paralysis. This action was confirmed. The president also reported having received an offer from the Cycling Sports Committee to run the tea rooms connected with the sports at Hawera. and had thanked it for its offer, but was not able to accept same. It was also reported that the Horticultural Society had offered the tea rooms connected with the forthcoming show. After discussion it was found, for vnrous reasons, that the committee was unable to accept the offer, but the secretary was instructed to thank the Horticultural Society. It was resolved that, ns the society requires further funds to carry on, and ns it was unable under the circumstances to hold a fete, and had had no street collection day, a cake and produce stall should be held on Saturday. 21st inst.
