DRIVER’S MIRACULOUS ESCAPE

(BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION..) ELTHAM, Feb. 12.

There was a sensational drop of 3 metal contractor’s lorry at Omoana yesterday over a 40-feet bank into a gorge. Young, the. driver, was on the roadway when the lorry began to move. He jumped into the cab and applied the brakes, which failed to act, and the lorry dropoed into the gorge in rough country. It kept its upright position, and landed with the bonnet in the mud. Young was thrown out, but suffered only concussion, having had a miraculous escape.
