A Pouter telegram from Paris reports the death, of Ma.itre de Mange, the famous advocate and counsel for the defence in the Dreyfus case. It is confidently stated in some quarters that Mr'G. V. Pearce fully intends to contest the Patea seat (states the Eltham Argus). Mr. O. A. Mams, associate editor of the Christchurch Sun, has been appointed editor of the New Zealand Times, states a Wellington Press Association message. Air. IT. Ha-den, manager of the Bank of Australia in Eltham for a large number of years, has- received a transfer on promotion to the Ta-ihape bank

Reports of.the Hon. D. H. Guthrie’s health on 'Saturday were that he had improved since the internal haemorrhage occurred a few days before, his blood jiressure being coneideraly reduced. His medical adviser anticipates that after a brief rest he will be able to take a trip for recuperative purposes.
