WIFE IN AMERICA. The Grand Duchess of Victoria Teodorovna, Queen Victorias granddaughter, and wife of the Grand Duke Cyril, who recently proclaimed himself head of the Romanoffs and Czar of Il'usisia, arrived at New York recently on board the liner Paris.

Fifteen motor-cycle police and defectives of the ‘‘bomb squad” met the ship at the pier owing to reports that Bolsheviks might attempt to assassinate her. The Grand Duchess is a daughter of the late Duke of I'M" ' h and a 'leister'of the Queen of .iiir:;>la. She married the Grand Duke of Hesse in 1878. when, she was. seventeen, but obtained a divorce in 1901./ She married the Grand Duke Cyril, cousin of late Czar, in 1905.
