BOATING ACCIDENT.
SEVENTEEN SAILORS DROWNED. SQUALL OVERTURNED BOAT. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. VANCOUVER, Feb. 8. The visit of the Japanese fleet-was marred by a serious accident. Several hundred men from the cruiser Asama were returning to the ship at one o’clock this morning, when a squall swept Vancouver harbour. One large liberty boat containing a hundred and forty men overturned. Other boats hurried up in the darkness in answer to cries from the drowning. The latest reports show that seventeen sailors were drowned.
