WELLINGTON SENTENCES.

(by TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION. WELLINGTON, * Feb. 7. * The following prisoner® were sentenced by Sir Robert, Stout - . Joseph* James Groonotte, for bigamy and false declaration -to the registrar of marriages, two years’ hard labour; Albert Joseph Fogarty, for obtaining £75 by false pretends, nine months’ hard labour; Giuseppe Lamaeehia, for indecent assault, eighteen months’ probation. Robert Harvey Campbell was admitted to probation for 18 months by Sir Robert Stout for theft of a safe from Lower Hutt railway station.

The accused had a bad record, but was leniently treated because Sir Robert Stout was satisfied he was in a state of absolute penury and stole on impulse.
