WOOL SALE.
AT CHRISTCHURCH
SPIRITLESS BIDDING
(by TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 6. The wool sale was continued this morning and terminated this afternoon. In the earlier stages of the market to-day there' was a tendency to a brighter tone, but this was sliort-lived. The sale was dragging, and as on the first day the limits were sharply defined. Passings maintained the proportion of the. previous night-, and comprised for the whole of the catnloguo of 20,000 bales a total of 4284 bales or about 21 ner cent. Easing has to be taken into account with the heavier condition of. the catalogue compared with the previous sales. With an allowance made for this fact, the market for .medium half-bred wools and crosbreds was down oil the last sale by 3d per lb. Fellmongery lots and merino fleeces showed, if anything, a more pronounced easing, whilst good classes of halfbred eased to the extent of '2Jd a lb. 1 On the prices at the and of the November sale the Rasing was equal, to 7u a lb. The top figures, 32‘d for fleece wool, reported yesterday, were not altered. The early activity of local mills was not maintained. A satisfactory feature was that .a fair weight of wool appeared to be taken by America. Local scouring firms brought piece lots very cautiously.
