ENROLMENT OF ELECTORS.
GOING AHEAD STEADILY. There is a steady stream of registration cards being returned to the the registrar of electors. It has been found on checking them that a fairly large number are informal and have to be returned for alterations. The registrar states that there appear to be two main items in which mistakes are made. In the cards for women it is noticeable that many do not observe that the occupation is confined to three terms — “spinster, married, or widow.” In some ' cards the signature of applicant or witness is omitted, or one side,of the card is not filled in. Those who have not sent in their .cards are requested to read the contents carefully and note what is required. This wiil (feave the authorities a lot of time and trouble. The postmaster advises that ‘collection of cards by the postmen will begin on Monday. ‘Where any doubt exists it would be advisable to get the postmaster or the registrar to witness signatures. The date before which registration must be made is March 6, four months since the coming into operation of the new Act.
