CROWDS STAMPEDE.
* MENDOZA SHAKEN BY ’QUAKE. Severe earthquake shocks sent inhabitants of Mendoza fleeing Jo the park's in the outskirts of the city lakes one afternoon in December. Ipe tremors were felt throughout the province of Mendoza, of which the city of that name is the capital. - Glass doors and windows were shattered Several persons were slightly injured when great crowds in the c-aies stampeded for the streets when the ominous jolts began. . . Many Mendoza families slept in tlie open. . . ■ Simultaneous shocks were recorded in the provinces of Tucmnan and San Luis. Mendoza was destroyed by an earthquake in 1861.
