TARANAKI MOTOR TRAFFIC.

REGISTRATIONS UNDER NEW ACT , FIVE THOUSAND VEHICLES. Up to- January 31, the last day on which, motor vehicles could be registered without their owners incurring a heavy penalty, close on 5000 registrations under the new Motor Vehicles Act had been effected in Taranaki. The actual figures account for 4807 vehicles, but if the “live” registrations under the old Act are an accurate indication of Taranaki’s strength in motor vehicles, then there are still quite a lot more registrations to be made. Private cars, of course are in the majority, their total reaching 3414, while for commercial purposes. 100 motor ears and 298 motor lorries, trailers, etc., are in use in.
