RECIPROCITY AGBEEMENT. (by TELEGRAPHY-PRESS ASSOCIATION. WELLINGTON, Feb. 4. Eighteen months’ operation of the reciprocity treaty with Australia a.fords some interesting results. Trade (Statistics for the year just ended indicate that the balance is again swinging in favour of the Commonwealth. For the year ending December last, the difference’ in f avoirr of Australia amounted to £2,607,601, but included in the imports into New Zealand from the Commonwealth was £1 039 774 worth of wheat, as compared with £69,000 for the previous year Wheat is an, item which is nob affected by the tariff agreement, and has only been imported owing to the temporary failure of the ,harvest in New Zealand. Excluding this amount the difference in favour of Australia for 1924 would he more correctly stated at £1,167,827.
