ANOTHER TURN.
INTER-STATE SHIPPING TROUBLE
SERIOUS DEVELOPMENTS FEARED.
BY CABLE—PSBBS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT (Received Jan. 30, 11.5 a.m.) SYDNEY, Jan. 30.
Serious developments in inter-State shipping trade trouble are again threatened as a result of the action of the Seamen’s Union in Sydney and Adelaide. It is considered likely that the application for deregistration may be renewed during the next few days. Yesterday the crew of the steamer jLevuka was signed on in preparation for the vessel’s departure to-day, hut later the whole crew gave notice, arid the vessel is again laid up. Among the crew were certain men who signed on at other ports. A claim was made for payment by these men of wages said to jhe due since the date of dismissal. The demands were refused by the owners. Shipping companies view the happening in a serious light, and regard it as a distinct breach of the undertaking given in the Arbitration Court on Friday last.
The Clan At unroe arrived in port yesterday. She was worked by members of the Watersidei’s’ Federation, in accordance with the terms of the Melbourne agreement.
