issued a report showing the results of the Imperial Challenge Shield competitions, for which 622 units, representing 16,786 hoys, competed, of which 3847 were from Britain, 2467 from Australia, 2142 from Canada. 3559 from New Zealand, 4381. from South Africa and 390 from India and Ceylon. His Majesty, in a letter congratulating New Zealand and Canadian teams respectively, on winning the Senior and Junior Imperial Challenge Shields, expressed the opinion that the records of other completing teams were highly creditable, and should encourage them to still
greater efforts jn the coming year. It is proposed to group the results of the 1925 competition so as to form a comparison of efficiency and actual test of the match on a national scale. The Motherland and each Dominion will select ,the best firing teams, whose aggregate will not be under 2000 boys, and the average number of points per bead of these teams on a basis of their full firing strength will constitute a. figure of merit. The War Office has approved of the proposal, and consent of the overseas defence departments is being sought. “ New Plymouth Technical College, New Zealand, won the Senior Imperial Challenge Shield and the £lO awarded to the most efficient organisation in the Empire. The Lord Roberts and Gover-nor-General trophies for all-round efficiency in each country in the Empire were won in the case qf Australia by. the Royal Australian Naval Reserve,;
Hobart, and in the' case of New .Zealand bv No. .89 Company Senior ,Cade.ts, ; New Plymouth Technical College.— Reuter. In the Imperial Challenge Shield competition the average of the win-; ning (New Plymouth) team was 88.99.
Winnipeg headed the honours list for the best fifty organisations, in which the ,89th Company (New Plymouth) was fifth, Scots College fortyfourth. Whangarei forty-ninth, Gore High School fiftieth. The best hundred units included ten Australian and eighteen New Zealand. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
