The Liberal Party’s Contention, which is being held with a view to reviving ' the fortunes of Liberalism throughout the country, opened in Londoni in Ivingsway Rial I, which was packed by ISOO delegates. Messrs. Asquith, Lloyd George and Sir John Simon, were present. Sir Donald Mar-Lean, the, President, in hisi opening speech, expressed loyalty to Mr. Asquith. He said they were eager for his, lead and were eager for the .fray. .They were proud that the King, on, his own personal initiative, had conferred an earldom ‘upon Mr. Asquith. Mr. Asquith received a remarkable ovation, the delegates rising and singing ‘‘For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow.” He said he had not yet resigned the leadership of the Liberal Party. The great gathering present convincingly proved that 'the fires of Liberalism were not extinguished. Mr. Lloyd George unreservedly accepted the leadership from Mr. Asquith. Both shook hands.—Reuter.

The Times, i'i .„ a leader discussing the question of Liberal leadership, expresses the opinion, that whatever Mr. Asquith’s present intention* are, he cannot definitely continue the leadership from the House of Lords.It is inevitable that either Mr. Llovd George or some other must soon be invited to take over the leadership.— Times.
