HAWERA COURT DAYS.
THE NEW ARRANGEMENT.
fortnightly sittings. An indication of the days that will he set down for attending to the court work at Hawera was made at the Magistrate’s Court yesterday, when in reciprocating New Year wishes extended to him bv Mr. J. Bayley, on behalf of the Hawera Bar, Mr. J. S. Barton, S.M., said he intended in the future to sit at the Hawera Court fortnightly instead of weekly, but on each visit to give three days, if necessary. He proposed to give Wednesday for civil business, Thursday for criminal work, and Friday for any overflow of cases from the two previous days. Mr. Barton said he was sure the arrangement would be pleasing to all concerned, but he’ did not wish to do anything thal would reflect hardship on practitioners. Hawera was by no means a Cinderella that had to be given the leavings. He liked his work in Hawera, and if experience should show that the arrange ment was unsatisfactory, then he would make a change.
