PARK v. MANAIA. WIN FOR THE! FORMER'. In a closely contested series of matches on Saturday the Hawera Park Club beat Manaia by a margin of seven sets and seventeen games. The contest was much enjoyed by all. These inter-club contests do a lot to forward the best interests of the game. The Hawera tennis courts and croquet lawns looked very gay on Saturday, when, under perfect weather conditionts, a progressive tournament was • held by the club, the proceeds going to help the fund for the championship tournament to be held in Hawera shortly. There were quite a numbe’r of visitors from all over the district and a few from Mamawatu. The ifternodli proved most enjoyable and interesting and provided many good games.

The results of the series of mat-c-hes were as below : Progressive Tennis.—Ladies : Miss G. Huggins 5 games, Misses Wills ami O’Dowel ’ runners .up. Men: Mr. *G. Wills 6 games, Messrs, McGregor, R. Wills, j. M. Collins and Lansky rnnnei-® up, with 5 games each. Progressive Croquet.—Mrs, J. Campbell, 30 points, 1; Mrs. J. B. Murdoch, 29, 2. Golf Croquet.—Miss White 1, Mrs. McL’Dowie 2. STRATFORD GAMES. Inglewood sent down & team to the tournament and were beaten by the local club by a. margin: of three sets uid 35 games The scores were: —- Stratford, 129 games, 11 sets; Inglewood, 94 games, 8 sets. Stratford Sportsdale Club beat Stratford Methodists, the scores being, when the light got too bad to continue, 14 sets and 128 games to 2 sets and 79 games. There were only throe sets in the combined doubles not played and these eoukl not materially affect the result.
