KAPONGA BRANCH FORMED
At a representative meeting l\eld vesterday in the Kaponga. public read-, ing room, the formation of a Kaponga branch of the Plunket Society, was unanimously decided upon. Mrs. A. V. Tlait was voted to the chair. An apology - for absence was received from ,Dr. M. M. Moekin. In addition to representatives of local ladies, a number of visitors representing the Hawera branch were in attendance and afforded appreciated advice concerning the business of the meeting. These included Mrs. Goodson (president of the Hawera branch). Nurse Dix (Plunket Nurse), and Mr. Jobson. , Explaining the purpose of the meeting Mrs. R. A. Law,, the convenor, stated that it had been called as the result- of communications received from Nurse Dix, suggesting the formation of a- branch of the society at Kaponga. Nti rse Dix h.a<l iiiitimatod tliat in the event of, a branch being established, she would arrange to pay fortnightly visits. Brief addresse-s dealing with the functions of the society were given by Mr»s. Goodson and Mr. Jokson, who stressed the advantages of having a qualified nurse such as Nurse Dix to advise mothers, and further pointed out that no charge was made for her services. ■ On the motion of the chairwoman, the meeting unanimously decided to form a branch at Kaponga. . The following officers were elected: — President,' Mrs. A. Y. Tait-; vicepresident®. Mesdames M. M. Hockin, R. A. Law ‘and W. E. Holland; hon. secretary -and treasurer, Mrs. Lyttelton Roberts: executive committee, Sister E. Kidd and Mesdames A. E. Moss. G. P. Cook. C. Kingston, Stanners. W. G. Oran'. A. MeDougall and J. He.ssell; Advisory Board, Dr. M. M. Hockin and Messrs. A. V. Tait. W. H. L. Robert® and J. Hessell. The opening dav was fixed for Friday. February 6, in. the public reading room, the ho-urs being 11 a.m. to 4 f p.m.. when Nurse Dix would be in attendance. It was further decided that, as from the opening day. the offer of .Nurse Dix to attend fortnightly be accepted . It was decided that the annual subscription fee he ss. The secretary was. authorised to forward cards, giving information concerning the society and soliciting membership, to residents of the district. The meeting terminated with votes of thanks to the visitors and the chairwoman. '
