‘THE NICHT WHEN SCOTS FOREGATHER.”
Lovers of Scotland’s bard and of Scottish song and poetry are promised a real treat on Monday evening next, when Burns’ nicht will be celebrated. This year there will be a gathering ot ladies and gentlemen at a dinner, with the usual embellishments, at the Golden Minim. „ T TT ~ Rev James McCaw, of Lower Hutt, who hailed from Burns’ country and who is a high authority on the poet, has kindly consented to deliver the oration. Last year, when. Mr. McCaw spoke on the same lines at Invercargill, he was given an enthusiastic 'reception, and his address exceedingly delighted his audience. Mr. McKenzie Forbes, of Wanganui, has also promised to be present, with some enthusiasts from that city. The pipers will give a skirl and what with the haggis, the recital of Tam o’ Shanter’s midnight .frolic, and community singing of some of the old favourites, solos and part songs by well-known artists, an evening welcome to the hearts of those to whom Auld Scotia is ever dear is assured.
