PERSONAL ITEMS.
As the result of a motor cycle accident near Patea, Mr \V. Grubb, of Stratford, is now in the Patea Hospital. Air H. S. Macey, of Wanganui, who is well known, in this district, has been promoted to be manager of Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Wanganui branch. Mr 11. L. McGregor, of the local staff of the Bank of New South Wales, has received notice of his promotion to Palmerston North. It is worth notice that now no less than three ex-Hawera men arc on that staff.
Among the successful candidates for matriculation examination were Miss D. Wood (Rawhitiroa), a pupil of the Hawera Technical High School; llay Stanners, of Eltham, a pupil of the Stratford High School. Philip Carman, of Eltham, gained a partial pass, while Miss Eva Sutherland (Alton) and Master S. F. Besley (Whenuakura) completed their matriculation.
Mr W. R. Taylor has accepted the position of organiser for Wellington area to tlie|New Zealand Alliance. Mr Tavlor is severing his connection with the firm of McCormick and Taylor, and will proceed to Wellington to take over his new duties at the beginning of March.
