The totaiisator handled £18,897, against £22,249 on the first day last year. Results; Porotawhao Hack Hurdles, one mile and a half and about 110 yards.— Demand 1, Good Mark 2, The Emperor 3. All started. Won by a length. Time, 2.54 4-5. Hima.tangi Hack Handicap, six furlongs.—Lucrative 1, Re vis 2, Pleasure 3. Scratched: Cushat, Empire Camp, Mountain Bell, Slump, Gardant. Won by two lengths. Time, 1.17 1-5. Foxton Cup, one mile and a quarter. Ir.apuka 1, Happy Days 2, Stream 3. Scratched: Helen Rufus. Won by about three lengths. Time, 2.8 4-5. Novice Stakes, six furlongs.—Bezau 1, Birthmark 2, Charleston 5. Scratched : Paula, Kyla, Bonny Louisa, Doyleston. Won easily, a nose between, second and third. Time, 1.17 4-5. J. Olsen w as, disqualified for a month for crossing Vuelta in this race.

Marotiri Hack Handicap, five furlongs and <a half. —Loyal Maid 1. Luarne 2, Mountain 801 l 3. Scratched: The Strand, Bevis, Carnbee, Bonny Marion, Olympic. Won by about a length. Time, 1.11.

Herrington Welter Handicap, about one mile.—Stream 1. March On 2. Royal Gift 3. Scratched Correspondent, Imperial Spark. A good race. Won by three-quarters of a length. Time. 1.44 1-5.
