Received Jan. 22, 9.25 a.m. DELHI, Jan. 21. t The Viceroy (Earl Reading) opened the session of. the Indian Legislature. Reviewing the year’s administration he said a marked improvement had been recorded in economic conditions, and trade prospects and the agricultural outlook generally were satisfactory, despite disastrous floods in some parts. 1 He announced the acceptance of the recommendation of the Assembly for an economic inquiry-into the conditions of the masses. A small committee would be appointed to collect material ' for a larger inquiry. He also announced a decision to appoint a currency committee as soon as conditions become more stable. He approved of the Bengal Governor’s certifying his acceptance of special legislation to stamp out terrorism, and warned the Swarai party that friendship with terrorists would kill the party like a parasite killing its host. " - The Viceroy satisfied that rela- 1 tions with foreign countries on the border were the most friendly. In concluding he urged the restoration of communal goodwill,, without which political progress would he retarded.—Reuter.
