WORKS COMMITTEE REPORTS
At the monthly meeting of the Kaponga Town Board held on Tuesday evening the Works Committee reported that works authorised but not completed were: Alterations to the pound enclosure, construction of culverts at the Eltham-Manaia Road intersection, and the erection of railings at the bridge. Works recommended requiring urgent attention were: Manaia Road (upper), opening drain into roadway at ID. Joyce’s property; surfacing the tootpath from A. Bates’ residence to the inner area*, and cutting small channel in the kerbiiig; blinding of roadway, at the Dairy Company’s entrance, the turn into Kuri Street and C. E. Betts’ premises. Manaia Road (lower): Culvert repairs at J. Guy’s and C. H. Bartlett’s residences and new culvert at A. White’s; clearing footpaths from L. .Shepherd’s to the hospital; opening water channels to allow free passage of storm water; filling of wash-outs caused by storm water. : Cemetery Road: The report recommended that in accordance with the promise given to Mr G. Gibson, two men with plough and scoon will spend a day in widening the road to 16ft. when time permits, and that the watertables at the approach to the culverts be opened. It was recommended that the "foreman, in' addition, be engaged in getting oiut sand for the Manaia. Road and make preparations for tarring. Owing to the pressure of necesasrv work, the employment of an additional man was recommended. The report was adopted.
