KNIFE PLAY AND CULTURE
CHARGE OF MURDER
LONDON, Jan. 12. TV hile Herbert Musgrave was leaving a Bradford hotel, where he was employed as pianist, Catherine Thorpe, aged 20, stopped him, pulled out a knife from her handbag, and struck him a violent blow. Musgrave was taken to hospital, where he died, and Thorpe has been arrested on a charge of wilful murder. The woman, who is well educated, speaking .three languages, lives apart from her husband, who recently refused to allow her to return, and is suing for a divorce, meanwhile retaining the child of the marriage. Mrs Thorne figured in a strange adventure oh Christmas Eve, when she was found lying in the roadway at night. She explained that she ' had missed her last car, and had accepted a lift in a motor car, in which were three men. She was being rapidly driven in a wrong direction, when she protested and was thrown out.
