STRATFORD COUNTY COUNCIL.
MO NTH LY MEET IN U. The ordinary meeting of the council was hold on Saturday. Present: Crs. E. Walter (chairman), W. H. Were, J. Jacobsen, S. Pitt, S. Parker* J. O’Neill, J. T. Belcher, and M. Davis. Cr. T. R. Anderson was granted leave of absence. ENGINEER ’S REPORT. The engineer (Mr. J. W. Spence) reported as follows on the work done lor the past month: North Riding.—The work ol widening and tarring of the Mountain Road to” 18 feet has been completed from the borough boundary to Midhirst. Portions of this length of road liavo been graded on the sides. South Riding.—The tarring of the balance of the Cheat Road has oeen finished, also the portion of the Mountain Road between the Sole Road and tho south boundary of the borough. The cutting opposite the Climie Road has been widened. The willows on the Finnerty Road at the Climie Stream have been cut; the work lias had the effect of giving a much clearer view Repairs have been tarried out on the Bird Road. About 200 cubic yards of screened sand have been obtained from the Patea River and (lumped on the Bird Road in front of the property of Mr. Hills. West Riding.—On the Hastings. Finnertv, Climie. Brecon, Brooke and Palmer' Roads the water fables have been attended to and where necessary material left by the grader has been removed. On the Opunnke No. 2 the metal has been clay blinded. The Waiugongoro- Road is now being treated in the same manner. The report- was adopted. RANGER’S REPORT.
The roads were very free from wandering stock at present, reported the ranger (Mr. J. W. Sue arm an). During the month he had only taken six head of stock for wandering on the roads-
