Though a notice was posted inviting seamen to apply for vacancies on the White Star liner Medic, none presented themselves. The vessel was due to sail to-day. It is suggested that this is the List movb to involve overseas seamen, as has been threatened by officials of the Seamen’s Union.

The Nairana was coaled at Launceston by unionists working all night on the vessel. Each town is allotted so many berths. Strict precautions are being taken against stowawavs. Some peonle remained on the wharf all night hoping to obtain a berth.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
