EXCEEDING SPEED LIMIT

AN ECHO OF WAVERLEY RACES.

As. th© outcome of a series of cases of speeding down the South Road on Labour Day, Jdie date of the Waberley races, a number of motorists were summoned to answer the charge before the Court. The majority had been dealt with previously, and the last two appeared before Messrs S. Blake and G. H. Buckeridge, J.P.’s, this morning.

Paul Ulilenberg did not put in an appearance, but sent a plea of guilty. Mr. J. Houston appeared for the inspector and said that on the day in question there was a good deal of traffic and many children were playii in the vicinity. Defendant’s speed was estimated at from 30 to 35 miles per hour. A fine was inflicted of £3 and costs 17s.

On a. similar charge Edgard Loveridge, who did not appear; was fined £2 and costs £1 ss.
