A meeting of the Waimate Horticultural Society was held in the Council Chambers' on Monday nighty when there was a good attendance, Mr T. A. Bridge .presiding. • A good deal of business in connect tion with the forthcoming show,’ which is to be held. on February 18, was transacted.

The following judges were appointed: Sections 1 and 2, pot plants, Mt H. Betts; sections 3 to 106, cut flowers, Mrs Lovell; section 4, farm and garden produce, Mr Gilianders; fruit section, Mr H. Betts; section 6, honey, Mr E. Floyd; sections 7 arid 8, preserves, etc., Mrs Hopcroft; section 9, cakes, etc., Mrs J. McCarthy and assistant ; sections 10 and 11, miscellaneous, Mrs J. McHardy and Mr Judd; various horse' events, Mr H. Perry; jumping events, Messrs N. Crocker and H. Washer. The stewards of previous years were re-appointed for the various sections. Sheep guessing, Messrs F. Mouri© and G. Twidle; gatekeepers, Messrs F. H. Lowe and R. Putt; horse paddock, Mr W. Sutton. The matter of arranging for a band was left in the hands of the chairman and seeretarv.

It was resolved that the secretary write to all school committees in the Waimate area asking them to. give the children a full day’s holiday on Show* Day.

It was resolved to ask the Town Board for permission to fence off the road near Domain for a horse paddock ; to book Town Hall for that date; also the secretary to take out a publio insurance risk. , . It was_ decided' jto hold a concert in the eveniifg, and the matter 1 of arranging same was left- in the hands of Mr J. A. G. Cosgtove. Everything points to the annual show suruassing any previous one. The committees are doing their best, and record entries are assured.
