The story of a young couple's elopement from Wellington was told in the Police Court to-day, when Henry Ernest Cook, aged 23, admitted making a false statement to the i - egistrar of marriages at Auckland. Evidence was given that accused wish to marry a girl of 19, but her parents objected. couple then ran away from Wellington to Auckland, and were married at the registry office, accused declaring the girl’s age at 21.

Accused was committed for sentence, Bail was. fixed at £SO.
