MUNICIPAL BAND
IN THE HOSPITAL GROUNDS
With the two-fold object of giving the patients the pleasure of a musical afternoon and also of interesting the people of the town in the hospital and the band, a short programme of musical items was given yesterday afternoon. There was a large number of people present, and bandsmen to. the number of twenty went on parade. Their playing was excellent, showing steady and marked improvement, since Christmas. The quality of tone was better, and in. the main there was a nice even steadiness in their playing. The concerted work included Selections from Spohr, Greenwood, Rimmer. and Tiecke. The cornet solos by Mr. Fox in the song “Beneath thy window,” and in the beautiful anthem by 'Spohr. “As pants the hart,” with soft hand -accompaniment, were marked feature® of the programme. Every item wa« received with generous applause. A collection was taken on behalf ,of the hospital funds. At the conclusion the bandsmen were the guests at afternoon tea of the matron and staff, a compliment which was much appreciated.
