STEAMER LOST IN GALE. NEW YORK, Jan. 9. It is feared that the American steamer Isidoro, carrying thirty-seven passengers, includinog many wellknown Mexicans, has been lost in a furious gale. She left Frontera for Vera Cruz on December 23, and has not been heard of since. *
ZINOVIEFF SHOT AT. LONDON, Jan. 10. Reports from Moscow via Berlin state that an attempt was made to assassinate Zinovieff, but the shots took no effect and the assailant was arrested. COMMUNISTS NOT WANTED. LONDON, Jan. 10. A Scottish Labour conference at Glasgow rejected by 127 votes to 80 a motion involving the affiliation, of the Communist Party. SYDNEY-ADELAIDE SERVICE. SYDNEY, Jan. 11. The aerial passenger service between Sydney and Adelaide has commenced. The fare is £2l and the flying time is nine hours.
PROGRESS IN THE AIR. VANCOUVER., Jan. 10. A Seattle message states that it is estimated that on a population basis the United States will be obliged to spend more than 62.000,000 dollars annually on the development of air services to equal the amount Australia spends yearly in military, commercial and aerial development.
