(Referee.) Mr. L. J. Henderson writes: Much has been written and said about records broken and equalled in the first Test match of 1924-25. And after a careful study of the 105 Matches played., X have compiled a. fresh 1 is-C, which, I think, will interest readers of the Rteferee. To commence, the attendance and takings are records. J. B. Hobbs registered his seventh century in Test matches. J. B. Hobbs’ aggregate of runs is 1997—the greatest by an Englishman. Never before in » Test match have two batsmen signalised tlieir first appearance by scoring centuries. H. L. Collins and W. H. Ponsford added 190 for the second wicket, and J. M. Taylor and A. A. Mailey’s 127 for the tenth wicket are Australian records.

No Test match has, previously entered upon the seventh day. The number of balls, bowled in the match, 3718, is a record.

The eight-ball over was employed for the first time.

Mr. W. Tate delivered 712 balls in the match, beating the previous best by 4. Tate fell nine balls short of the record for -an innings.
