HOTEL PORTER CHARGED
LITTLE GIRL ASSAULTED. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATIONPALMERSTON N. Jail. 10. At the Police Court Charles Royal Porter, an hotel porter, who was charged with assaulting a little girl aged 7 years at Marton yesterday', was sentenced to a month’s hard labour, the father of the child left her in the Indies’ waiting room of Marton station for a moment, when accused called her away and then led her to the racecourse, where lie struck her on the head and knocked her down. The child screamed and accused ran away. Returning to the station the child informed the father, who later saw the accused enticing another girl away. Accused, on arrest, said he could not remember the occurrence.
