EMERGENCY MINISTRY. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. BERLIN. Jan. 8. Owing to the foreign political situation, the Chancellor (Dr. W. Marx) is hastening the formation of an emergency Cabinet. The Chancellor will personally direct foreign affairs in the, absence of Dr. von Stresemann. Hein Jarres (Minister for the Interior) is also resigning as a member of the People’s Party. The vacancies will he filled by the promotion of the Undersecretaries if others are not available. The new Administration, from the outset, will be faced by bitter opposition in the Reichstag, especially on the part of the Nationalists and Communists It will also be exposed to possible hostility by the People’s Party. On the other hand the Ministry can rely on the support of the Centrists and Democrats, and the benevolent neutrality of the Socialists. Nevertheless, its position will be most precarious. since the votes of one of the small parties will suffice to turn the scale at the critical moment.
