A DIRECT INSULT

WATERSIBERS’ AWARD. (BY TEEEGKAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, Jan. 6. The Waterside Workers’ Union stopwork meeting this morning passed a resolution strongly condemning the award which came into operation on December 18. The resolution says that the union takes this opportunity of Expressing dissatisfaction, disgust and contempt towards the majority of the court for making an award of only a halfpenny increase per hour. The resolution aiso calls on the Ministers or Labour and Justice to institute an enquiry into the proceeding and finding of the court with a view to re-estab-lishiug confidence in that institution, and adds: “We look on the miserable halfpenny granted by the court as a direct insult.”
