ACCIDENTS TO CHILDREN. (by TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, Jan. 5. Dorothy Benfiekl, aged 7, of Newtown, was knocked down by a motorcar last night opposite the police station and died in hospital. It is stated she ran in front of the car before it could be stopped. Another child, Pansy Smith, aged 10, fell over the railings at Oriental Bay Esplanade 011 to the beach and received serious injuries.
A THOUGHTFUL ACT. AUCKLAND, Jan. 5. Members of a picnic party left on Rangitoto Island after the last ferry steamer departed on Saturday afternoon were observed from a launch in which the Governor-General and party were cruising. » Sir Charles Eergnsson noticed seven people, women and children, standing on the wharf. From inquiry made he ascertained their plight, and at the expressed wish of the Governor-General they were taken aboard' and conveyed back to town. INFANTTLE PARALYSIS. DIJNEDTN, Jan. 5. There has been no further case of infantile paralysis. That reported on Friday originated at Pet-one.
