The Times’ medical correspondent says that the birth rate in London during last week was 9.9 per IUOO of the population, the lowest ever recorded. The previous lowest rate, in 1923, was 14 per 1000 which, curiously enough, also occurred in the last week of the year. The death rate was also the lowest on record, being 11.2 compared with 13.9 in the last week of 1923. It was 12 in 1922 and 18.5 in 1921.
