INTER-PROVINCIAL CONTESTS. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) BLENHEIM, Dec. 31. The first- inter-provincial tennis match ever played, Marlborough v. Wellington, resulted in a win for Wellington by six matches to four in the. ‘single's. Marlborough won four of the seven matches played, but in the doubles Wellington won all. of the matches. Mitchell and Mills (Marlborough) put up a sterling performance against White and Parsons. The game was going to .12—10 in the third set before the Wellington pair won. This was the deciding game in the match. lit the Marlborough tennis tourney, Miss Murison (Christchurch) scored five wins, including the ladies’ singles championship, handicap singles, and combined doubles. The men’s championship went to Hollings (Wellington).
