QUAERYMAN’S DEATH. (BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, Dec. 30. John Joseph Noble, a. married man living at Grey; Lynn, slipped and fell on some stones near a quarry at Mt. Albert, where he had been working. . Nobie was alone when he fell and succumbed to his injuries. He was found later. He had sustained a, fractured pelvis and internal injuries.
INTEREST ON OVERDRAFTS. WELLINGTON, Dec. 30. Information was received in Wellington to-day to the effect that as frpm Thursday next the Commonwealth Bank will raise its rate of interest on overdrafts by one half per cent to 7 per cent. It is the intention of the bank to, continue to allow a special concession on accounts of charitable in.stutions, churches and other bodies Hot trading for profit. Since January 1 last the Australian rate Ims been 6£.per cent., as it is in New Zealand’. Th e New Zealand minimum overdraft rate is per cent., i.e., on the choicest of business. !■■ -
